AREA SouthWest: Where Dance + Community = Impact!

AREA in collaboration with the CT Martin Recreation Center in Atlanta’s Adamsville southwest community presents a vibrant dance program designed to inspire creativity, foster appreciation for the performing arts, and provide an engaging environment for kiddies, youth, and high adults. This partnership establishes a satellite location for AREA, extending its mission of artistic education and accessibility to the Adamsville community.

The program offers high-quality, enjoyable dance programming that caters to interests of varying skill levels, creating a safe and inclusive space for self-expression and growth in Dance & Fitness.

KIDDIES

Creative Movement and Exploration

- Focus: Introducing young dancers to the basics of rhythm, movement, and storytelling through dance.
- Highlights:
  - Fun and engaging activities to develop coordination and motor skills.
  - Exploration of dance styles such as jazz, hip-hop, and modern.
- Schedule: Meets twice a week for three months.
Beginning Ballet and Jazz Basics
- Focus: Teaching foundational ballet and jazz techniques in a playful and supportive environment.
- Highlights:
  - Development of posture, flexibility, and basic technical skills.
  - Simple choreography to build confidence and stage presence.

10 MONTHS: Fall & Spring (August-May) | 2 MONTHS: Summer (June and July)

BENEFITS OF INVESTMENT:

TRAINING: Weekly progressive classes in Ballet, Contemporary/Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acro, Musical Theater, and boosters in Pre-Pointe/Pointe 1 and Tap.
PERFORMANCES: At least 2 performances a Season, with other options available based upon Performance Track.
WORKSHOPS: Exclusive experiences with AREA partnering resources, organizations, and professionals.
COMPETITIONS & CONVENTIONS: Elevating students showmanship, skill, and next level opportunities
INDUSTRY PREP: Access to exclusive opportunities and preparatory options for success in the Entertainment industry.
MENTORSHIP: Receive guidance and advice from AREA Alum, and other notable professionals in the Arts & Entertainment industries.

JAI MCCLENDON JONES – Visionary & Founder of AREA

A visionary leader, creative force, and community champion, Jai is the founder and artistic architect behind AREA (Atlanta’s Resource for Entertainment & Arts). For over 16 years, Jai has cultivated a space where artistic excellence meets holistic development—empowering thousands of young artists to discover their voice, unlock their power, and take up space boldly. With an impact that spans over 3 decades and has touched more than 50,000 multi-generational audience members, Jai has used the arts as a transformative vehicle for education, expression, and empowerment.

Fueled by the mantra, "Our AREA Has No Limits," Jai’s mission has always been clear: make elite arts education accessible to every zip code across Atlanta. Under her leadership, AREA has grown from its flagship home, AREA Buckhead, to now include two thriving satellite studios: AREA South (Clayton County) and AREA SouthWest (City of Atlanta, CT Martin Rec Center). Her legacy is one of mentorship, inclusion, and excellence—one star at a time.

ANANDA “Ms. A” – Director of AREA South

A proud AREA alum, Clayton County native, and former Rookie Teacher of the Year at Pace Elementary School of the Arts, Ananda—lovingly known as Ms. A— brings passion, purpose, and professionalism to her new role as Director of AREA South.

As a student, she trained under Jai’s leadership at AREA Buckhead. Now, as a leader, she returns home to pour into the next generation.Ananda has already transformed lives—presenting over 100 students in her school’s dance program and connecting them with AREA’s extended opportunities like the AREAs partner, Alvin Ailey Experience to choreographing award-winning competition and convention dances. Her journey from student to partner is a shining example of what happens when purpose meets preparation. At AREA South, she is committed to expanding the movement, uplifting youth, and ensuring that every child is seen as the star they are.
