ACADEMY

ABOUT ACADEMY

The Academy is the award-winning performing arts training & development school of AREA for novices to pre professional level dancers, and consists of 2-Program Tracks: Developmental (12-months) and Mold (10-months); and broken up into Training Levels, based upon each students skill, commitment, and next level development.

Our Academy is rooted in the McClendon Philosophy of Training & Development, developed by our matriarch, Denise McClendon who has over 40+ years of experience designing transformative holistic teaching methodology and practices for our emerging artistic talents! As an Instructor of the Academy, we will all collectively and individually embody this McClendon Mystic! The McClendon Mystic is grounded in a holistic approach which fosters unity, cultural understanding, integrity, and life skills. It is designed to mold, stimulate, develop and nurture the whole person; mind, body and soul which will allow the artist to reach their fullest potential. Our philosophy believes artists must sharpen their observational and critical thinking skills to become successful in today’s society, by communicating a variety of viewpoints and ideals through the performing arts.

Each student may be maintained at their respective Training Level at least 2-years, depending on skill and development.  Students will be advanced by the Directors recommendation, if all skill requirements are met.
